Five Ways to Invest in Wireless Communications

What You Need to Know before Investing

The wireless telecommunications industry is huge today!

There are five basic ways to invest:

  1. 1. The service providers/operators. (Names like Verizon, Cingular, Hutchison, Orange. These folks provide your local wireless service);

  2. 2. The cell phone and base station (infrastructure) manufacturers. (Names like Nokia, Ericsson, Sharp, Samsung, Motorola, NEC);

  3. 3. Component manufacturers. The makers of the chips, microphones, speakers, antennas, cameras inside your wireless device;

  4. 4. Application developers. Microsoft is trying to break into this market currently dominated by the cell phone manufacturers;

  5. 5. Air interface developers. These firms focus on how cellphones and other wireless devices communicate with each other and with their respective base stations and towers. They do not develop "applications." Rather, they are working towards patented technology for clear, fast communications of voice and the immense mounts of data necessary for the applications currently being designed and tested. In the immediate future, this category may provide the most lucrative investment opportunities.

This exclusive WirelessLedger.com report describes each category and lists both the risks and the rewards associated with each of the five types of wireless investment opportunities.
