by: JimLur You said, "I wish whoever is trying to downplay the stock now get caught with their pants down." With 7000 contracts in the 20s and 22.50s expiring 12/17 all we need is GD news, Matsushita patents, or a pre pay by Sony/Ericy and we might have a little short squeeze. If so you may get your wish. I bet Lastchoice would like to see that short fund manager get squeezed.
Posted by: lastchoice so far, i haven't bothered her again but i look forward to it, perhaps around year-end. i've been emailing and encouraging the reporter from dow jones' market talk, though. Posted

TD-SCDMA/GSM Dual Mode Commercial Handset is available from Samsung by
T3G chipset solution (Dec 9, 2004, Beijing) The commercialization of TD-SCDMA handsets made a big step forward recently as T3G and Samsung successfully demonstrated the world‘s first ASIC-based TD-SCDMA call between a Samsung commercial phone and Datang mobile infrastructure network. The first call made with the Samsung commercial phone based on T3G’s reference design system solution, including the TD-SCDMA Modem chip and TD-SCDMA protocol stack, proves Samsung‘s leading position in the commercial TD-SCDMA handset development and T3G’s mature and reliable reference design system solution. With this first call achievement, Samsung becomes the leading handset makers in the field of commercial TD-SCDMA terminals. Samsung will provide the TD-SCDMA/GSM/GPRS multi-band dual mode phones for the TD-SCDMA pre-commercial pilot tests organized by the Chinese government starting from the second quarter of 2005. The participation of Samsung, the international heavyweight handset maker, has greatly strengthened the TD-SCDMA industry chain and has further driven the momentum of TD-SCDMA in China. Samsung will be the first international handset makers to ship TD-SCDMA commercial phones in 2005. Benefiting from the close cooperation with its valued partner Samsung, T3G will enable mass production and fast time to market of the TD-SCDMA terminals with its advanced modem IC and reference design system solution, which is critical for the successful commercialization of the TD-SCDMA technology. Samsung’s feature rich TD-SCDMA/GSM/GPRS multi-band dual mode handset offerings will initially target the Chinese market. 3G Features that are most demanded by the Chinese end users are embedded. The highlight of the Samsung handset is TD-SCDMA/GSM/GPRS dual-mode, which enables to meet requirements of different network deployment scenarios and ensures easy market adoption during the 2G to 3G migrations. Mr. Shin Jong Kyun, Senior Vice President of Samsung said, ” Up to now, T3G achieved an excellent progress on TD-SCDMA technology in a short period of time by collaborating with Datang Mobile, Philips, and Samsung. From now on, Samsung will put its best efforts to make competitive products." Mr. Johan Pross, T3G CEO, said, “Industrialization of TD-SCDMA is of paramount importance. Samsung plays an active role to enable fast implementation of China‘s 3G standard by offering real commercial phones to the market.” T3G Chairman Mr. Tang Ru’an commented that: “With a series of breakthroughs made in the TD-SCDMA terminal chipset field lately, when can the mature, diversified and mass produced terminal will be launched become a new focus. T3G and Samsung’s commercial handset indicates that that time has come.” About

Siemens Sign 3G Cooperation Memo on TD-SCDMA Huawei, one of the major playersin the global telecommunication markets with its headquarters in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, on November 26 signed a cooperation memo about 3G standard TD-SCDMA technology with Siemens Communications Group. In order to promote the applications of TD-SCDMA, Huawei and Siemens Communications set up a joint venture named TD Technology Service in Feb. Over USD 100 million is invested in this joint venture, which is engaged in the development, production, service and sales ofTD-SCDMA technology and products. It will promote products for commercial use in middle of next year. TD-SCDMA is a 3G standard with Chinese companies‘ participation, said Siemens‘ president. He is seeing a good future of this standard‘s application in China. Huawei says that its partnership with Siemens not only raises efficiency, but also reduce cost, which realizes coopration in R&D.

& HSDPA "This will be the first deployment in Europe of a super-fast 3G network, and it will provide invaluable insights into how to develop and extend our multimedia services to additional markets," said Dave Williams, group CTO for mmO2. "This project highlights mmO2's leadership in the introduction of enhanced next-generation solutions." This HSDPA-enabled network will initially offer data speeds of 3.6 Megabits per second (Mbps) - a limitation of initial mobile device implementations - and ultimately will support data speeds of up to 14.4 Mbps. Lucent's IMS, a converged Internet Protocol-based core network solution that is part of Lucent's Accelerate(TM) Next-Generation Communications Solutions portfolio, will enable Manx Telecom to provide its customers with a wide array of compelling, multimedia services that can be delivered over both mobile and fixed networks. Beginning in the summer of 2005, Manx Telecom will be able to support a wide range of next-generation services, including the ability to quickly and easily download DVD-quality film and video, and to access email (including large attachments) using their mobile device or fixed broadband connections. Additionally, Manx Telecom's business customers will be able to provide their employees with high-speed mobile access to the same business applications they typically use while in the office. "Manx Telecom's vision is to provide services that enrich people's lives whatever they're doing and wherever they are, and this project will play a strategic role as we continually assess how to enhance our mobile offerings for our customers," said Chris Hall, managing director of Manx Telecom. "This network will serve as a showcase of the tremendous benefits fixed-mobile multimedia networks have to offer." "Lucent is very excited to partner with mmO2 and Manx Telecom on this unique, ground-breaking project that will help eliminate the barriers between voice and data services, and between fixed and wireless environments," said David Poticny, president, Lucent Technologies Europe. "Lucent's next-generation networking solutions are designed to support the seamless delivery of blended services that enhance, and complement people's lifestyles, providing them with the convenience of anywhere, anytime access to all of their communications services." Under the agreement, Lucent will provide mmO2 with Bell Labs-developed wireless and data networking equipment, as well as network management and applications software. Among the products to be supplied are Lucent's Flexent(R) OneBTS(R) base stations (Node Bs) -- which support HSDPA -- Flexent Radio Network Controller (RNC), as well as UMTS packet core solutions including Lucent's Flexent Serving GPRS Support Node (SGSN), and Gateway GPRS Support Node (GGSN). Lucent also will ensure the supply of HSDPA-capable devices to Manx Telecom, through collaborations with a variety of mobile device manufacturers. Lucent also will supply key elements of its IMS solution, including a 3G Mobile Switching Center based on the Lucent Network Controller (softswitch technology) and Lucent Network Gateways, as well as Lucent's Super-Distributed Home Location Register, a subscriber database server that manages customer information for voice and data services across wireline and wireless networks. Lucent Worldwide Services will provide engineering, installation, integration, optimization and program management services for the project. Last week, Lucent announced a four-year agreement to supply 3G UMTS network equipment, software and services to support Cingular Wireless' nationwide 3G service rollout. This deployment also includes HSDPA. Lucent Technologies designs and delivers the systems, services and software that drive next-generation communications networks. Supported by Bell Labs research and development, Lucent uses its strengths in mobility, optical, software, data and voice networking technologies, as well as services, to create new revenue-generating opportunities for its customers, while enabling them to quickly deploy and better manage their networks. Lucent's customer base includes communications service providers, governments and enterprises worldwide.
